TIP: Improve your .CFG file with custom sounds and text hints only visible to you!

Recently VALVE removed "developer 1" and "echo" commands from Reborn which broke some .cfg scripts. I was playing with my .cfg file getting it ready for Reborn and I figured out you can play all kinds of sounds with console commands and use "student_chat" to show text hints when executing .cfg. You can play sounds from tutorial so it will not interfere with regular dota match sounds at all. say_student is a perfect replacement for removed "echo" command.


For example here is my "quick courier" script, sometime it was hard to tell if you called the courier or not, with the use of a sound you don't have to double check anymore.


Quick Courier delivery script with custom sound:

For AUTOATTACK on/off toggle script I use a sound and a text hint that tells you if you have auto attack off or on (N key activates it):

Armlet toggle script also uses text and a custom sound:

bind v "dota_item_execute 2;exec huskar.cfg;say_student armlet toggle;playsound sounds/ui/yoink.vsnd_c"

^ to make this work create a file named huskar.cfg in the same folder and put this line inside

bind 3 "dota_item_execute 2;dota_item_execute 2;"

this will hit Armlet in slot 3 twice instead of 1 time (helps with armlet toggle a little)
These few extra features will make your .cfg file fancy and more useful!
