PSA: How to skip the new update if you just want to play Dota2 (Source 1)

1. Open Steam and navigate to the library tab.
2. Right click on Dota2 and go down to properties
3. Go to the right-most tab at the top of the menu
4. Uncheck Dota 2 Reborn.
5. Close steam and wait for the application to stop running.
6. Restart Steam.


Now when you log in there WILL be an updated for Source1 dota. You will need to download this but it is 300MB. You can wait for this to end and start playing.


When you don't want to play anymore, repeat the above steps but make sure to check the dota2 reborn box instead of uncheck. Restart steam and the update for reborn will commence. Yes, all 6GB of the bastard.


Edit: /u/SirBelvedere has very *kindly* pointed out that this may uninstall dota2 reborn. However in my opinion, if you are going to download a 6GB file at night, what is a few more GB gonna hurt? Some of don't have fibre internet Bel...

Edit 2: So it turns out that you can pre-load the dota2 reborn update while in game and while you play at a slower pace it seems. The reborn is a TOTAL of 6.7GB. This means that you can save even more time since you can play WHILE you download.
