[PSA] Quickly change your settings for TI casts (audio, graphics etc.) via execs

Listening to a cast without changing your audio settings usually is impossible because the gamesound is too high. Every time you watch you have to readjust the values manually. And when you wan't to play you change them back. This wastes time and is annoying.
Fear not my friends, the exec command saves you (again).


I personally have 2 cfgs.
The "normal.cfg" and the "observer.cfg". These contain audio settings for viewing and for playing.
To create a cfg like this go to "*install directory*\Steam\SteamApps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg" and create a textfile.


You have 4 audio sliders which you should consider changing:
Game volume: How loud hit sounds, spell sounds etc. are. Should be lowered for viewing
Music volume: music, personal preference
Voice volume: casters voice, ingame voice chat
Unit speech volume: the announcer, trashtalk after x hero killed y hero. Should be lowered for viewing

**Audio settings (You enter each of those lines into the textfile with a return key separating them.)**:
Game volume: snd_gamevolume (0 to 1, ex. 0.35 = 35%)
Music volume: snd_musicvolume (0 to 1, ex. 0.35 = 35%)
Voice volume: snd_voipvolume (0 to 1, ex. 0.35 = 35%)
Unit speech volume: snd_gamevoicevolume (0 to 1, ex. 0.35 = 35%)

Another useful feature is snd_mute_losefocus (0, off or 1, on) that mutes Dota when it loses focus when activated. When it's set to 0 and you tab out you still can listen to the cast for ex. while you watch twitch chat or w/e.

**Graphik settings** (I won't explain them):
Vsync: mat_vsync (0 or 1)
Antialiasing: mat_antialias (0 or 1)

Now when you have the cfg files set up you simply **open up the console when ingame and type "exec + *nameofcfg*.cfg".**
There is also the possibility to setup **hotkeys** to switch settings even quicker (thanks to /u/2slow4flo). To do that you open up the "config.cfg" or "config" with an editor and add the lines

bind "p" "exec normal.cfg"
bind "o" "exec observer.cfg"
to the rest. Make sure to not type it after a existing command - separate them with the return key.

Tl;dr: Invest some time, save more time.
